There is another study out showing the benefits of maintaining normal levels of vitamin D.  This research was done in Korea using data from their national health survey.

About ten thousand adults were asked to participate.  They had their blood levels of vitamin D checked and lung function tested.

The researchers found an association between vitamin D levels and lung function even after adjusting for other variables.
