People with food allergies are always on the watch for what is and is not in their foods.  These allergies are an immune response and probiotics can play a role.

A new study looked to see if a high dose probiotic (VSL#3) could reduce this immune response for peanut allergies.  The probiotic was given to mice who had peanut allergies and found it to modulate the immune response.

The study authors concluded, “Probiotics supplementation may represent an effective and safe strategy for treating food allergies in adult population.”
