Probiotics May Reduce Incidence of Infections

Probiotics may reduce incidence of infections according to a new study looking at rugby players.  Researchers looked at probiotics as a possible way to reduce the infection rates among athletes.

The rugby players were given probiotics for 4 weeks and then placebo for 4 weeks with a wash out period in between.  During the probiotic supplementation, twice as many rugby players did not report any incidence of infections.

Probiotics play a critical role in our immune health and this study provides some evidence of their impact on our health.
