Making Energy

The brain, muscles, heart, and digestive tract all require energy to function and repair properly.  Disruption typically results in fatigue.  Mitochondria are the small “organelles” where energy is formed in the cells.  Their function is critical to energizing every part of the body.

Protecting Mitochondrial Function

Many molecules contribute to energy formation in the mitochondria.

Antioxidants Protect
  • Endogenous SOD and Glutathione protect cells and mitochondria.
  • Ergothioneine and benfotiamine (a fat-soluble vitamin B1) are highly protective and support the activation and formation of new mitochondria.
  • Colored flavonoids in vegetables, berries, tea, and chocolate help the body reduce oxidative stress that can damage cells.
  • Vitamins C & E and Selenium provide essential antioxidant protection.
Energy Formation
  • Essentials include Benfotiamine and other B vitamins, vitamin D3, CoQ-10, calcium, magnesium and additional trace minerals.
  • Creatine helps rebuild the body’s primary energy molecule, ATP.
Repairing and Forming New Mitochondria
  • NAD+ precursors combined with Quercetin and Resveratrol genetically activate new mitochondria.
  • Urolithin A activates repair of existing mitochondria through a process known as mitophagy.
  • Support reduced inflammation with high bioavailability Curcumin, Tamaflex®, and Omega-3 fats.
  • Senescent Cells are inflammatory and damaging. Flavonoids Fisetin and Theaflavin initiate the breakdown of senescent cells.
Neurological Repair and Energy
  • Endogenous antioxidant precursor NRF2 activates SOD, Catalase, and Glutathione.  Curcumin activates NRF2 as well.
  • Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) are primary repair molecules to nerves and particularly the brain. A highly effective activator of these repair molecules is a hot water extract of the Lion’s Mane mushroom fruiting body.
  • Theracurmin® is a form of curcumin designed to pass the blood-brain barrier effectively.
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine Arginate boosts nerve cell communication by stimulating neurite growth.
Adrenal Hormones and Neurotransmitters Support Energy
  • Pantothenic Acid and Vitamin C support the formation of adrenal hormones. Adaptogens Panax Ginseng, Siberian Ginseng, and Rhodiola help balance adrenal hormones and support normal cortisol levels.
  • Tyrosine and vitamin B6 support mood and energy as precursors for the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine.
  • Support thyroid levels with Iodine and  Tyrosine, and use Ashwagandha if extra support is desired.

Remember to eat a healthy diet, get plenty of sleep, and drink water.
