A new study looked into whether or not lutein could improve vision under conditions like night time driving. Subjects were supplemented with 20mg of lutein or placebo for 1 year.
They found that for the lutein group there were significant increases in contrast and glare sensitivity. This suggests that lutein could improve vision under conditions of low light, including night time driving.
