Muscle Atrophy

Muscle Atrophy is the loss or thinning of muscle tissue which can result in decreased muscle mass and strength. Atrophy can occur due to malnutrition, age, genetics, lack of physical activity, or from certain medical conditions. When the muscles are not being used or dietary protein intake is inadequate, the body will start to breakdown muscle.
