B12 Boosts Hepatitis C Response

In a paper published in the journal Gut this year, researchers dosed hepatitis C patients with 5000mcg vitamin B12 every 4 weeks while they continued to take conventional antiviral drugs.   At 24 weeks of treatment, patients taking B12 were 34% more able to clear the hepatitis C virus than those using only conventional drugs.  B12 was particularly helpful in patients whose infection had proved difficult to manage with antiviral medications alone.
