Revitalizing with Red Light

Light therapy has been used in dermatology since the 1960’s, but has expanded  from laser therapy to LED therapy which makes at home use possible.

Research has found that Red Light Therapy supports:

  • Reduction of swelling and lowered inflammation
  • Reduction of pain and improved wound healing
  • Improved blood flow to tissues
  • Faster healing and longer recurrence time in recurring cold sores
  • Improvement in skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Wrinkle reduction, diminished stretch marks and smoother skin
  • Improvement in acne
  • Hair growth

Additional Impressive Benefits

  • Green tea soaked cotton pads were placed on skin for 20 minutes before red light therapy. Results reported were rejuvenated skin, and fewer wrinkles in one month versus 10 months without green tea.
  • Post surgical incisions treated with red light therapy produced a 27% improvement in scarring.
  • In athletes, using red or near-infrared LED therapy 3-6 hours before resistance exercise improved muscle performance and exercise recovery. Red light therapy appears to act on the mitochondria of the cells causing an increase in cellular energy production. It also provided a protective effect by reducing post work-out inflammation and muscle damage.
  • Red light at 655 nm is effective in androgenic alopecia in stimulating hair growth 35% in men and  37% in women.
