As carnivores, dogs and cats get the majority of their necessary nutrients from animal proteins. However, in some cases, supplementation can be beneficial.

Omega-3s are an essential fatty acid in both dogs and cats as they are unable to efficiently convert omega-3 from plant sources. It is beneficial for skin and coat, reducing inflammation, and joint health. In dogs, DHA can also improve training and socialization. Look for a fish oil high in DHA/EPA and sustainably sourced.

Probiotic supplements can be useful during a change in diet or with antibiotics. In addition to supporting gut health, probiotics can also support a healthy immune system and stress response. Many of the same strains that are beneficial for humans have been shown to be beneficial in pets.

Fiber can be beneficial for diarrhea or loose stools. Pumpkin or psyllium can be a gentle fiber source. Prebiotic FOS supports intestinal flora and stool quality.
