You may already know about the benefits of lutein for your eyes, but you may not know that it does a lot more for you.
A recent study gave healthy adults either lutein or placebo for 12 weeks. They measured lutein levels along with markers of antioxidant status and inflammation before, during and at the end of study.
They found that as lutein levels increased, total antioxidant capacity increased and inflammation decreased.
