The Digestive Tract or “Gut” controls absorption of nutrients and formation of many critical molecules that support healthy function in the immune system, brain and mood, hormones, weight, bowel, skin, and food metabolism.  This complex ecosystem is populated by over 100 trillion bacteria that provides approximately 80% of the immune function in the body.  This is a concentrated roadmap to maintaining a healthy GI Tract.

Why is this Happening

The standard American diet has created a people addicted to sugar, gluten and dairy plus antibiotics intake.  Consuming these unhealthful foods can foster an environment where bad bacteria grow rapidly and good bacteria die off.  This can damage the thin layer of epithelial cells that line the gut and control entry of molecules into the body and inhibit those that don’t belong.  Conditions that can be caused by this damage are food sensitivities, sometimes referred to as “Leaky Gut” and Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Repair and Maintain
  • Two of the essential molecules for repairing the epithelial cells and mucosal lining in the GI are Omega 3 fats EPA and DHA and Zinc Carnosine.
  • The Fat Butyrate and amino acid Glutamine provide energy for repairing the colon and small intestine respectively.
  • Immune function in the GI can be supported with Beef Serum Globulins.
  • Saccharomyces Boulardi & Bacteriophages reduced undesirably pathogens.
Probiotics & Prebiotics of Note

Each individual has such a unique gut microbiome, there is no single way to support GI health. These are many combination formulas that can help balance gut bacteria.  Molecules like sulfur and the sugar raffinose from beans are an example of bloating due to excess of certain bacteria.

Certain strains can re-establish balance.  These well-studied strains and formulas support colon, cardio, small intestine and GI histamine.

  • Butyrate for colon and cardio health
  • Visbiome®anti-inflammatory medical food in over 70 clinical trials including as adjunct in Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis trials.
  • L-Reuteri 30242® Butyrate and Cardio support.
Mast Cell Stabilizing and removal of food histamine strains
  • L-Rhamnosus GG – Mast cell stabilizing
  • L-Gasseri – Mast Cell and regularity
  • L-Plantarum 299v  – Mast cell and GI health

Fibers Hydrolyzed Guar, Inulin, GOS and FOS are fibers that effectively support probiotic growth and maintenance.
